HI
Our landscape looks like this for BAU Production support - which is used for, Emergency, Standard and Minor releases.
Dev(main) => QA(Main)= > Pre-Prod => Production
Our landscape for Projects for Major Releases - between two to three per year.
DEV(Proj)= > QA (Proj)
Once a major release is ready it is moved from the project landscape......into DEV(Main) and then all the way through to production. Regression testing takes place (QA Main) and User Acceptance in Pre prod.
The question has been asked is it better (more value) to move our current Pre-Prod system to the project landscape........I agree we then do have a true dual landscape......but if you are doing only 2-3 major releases per year.....do you really get the full value from it of having a pre-prod system dedicated to this landscape....(Pre-Prod has a number of components that make it up i.e. to look as close to production as possible)
Does anyone run.....a scenario where you have two dual tracks both feeding directly into Pre-Prod...... so for us all change be that in an Emergency, Standard, Minor or Major Release would go into Pre-Prod first?
Appreciate your feedback
Cheers
Peter
